Spanish 1885 5-Peseta Silver, Green Oxidation - Can I Use Acetone?

jecz79 Pillar of the Community Portugal 655 Posts	Posted 09/08/2024 5:56 pm Acetone is safe to use on silver. Is the best thing I found for cleaning silver so far. What you have there is probably PVC gunk. Put the coin in acetone and let it there at least half an hour. Do a second bath if necessary. Wash with a little acetone in the end. It is worn but cleaned or not it has a history. Worth taking care of. Report this Post to the Staff

I need to find where I can get 100% acetone locally. :) Yes, this piece is part of my 19th-century Spanish crown-size historical set-up. This piece had been with me for more than 20 years already.
