Hi gang! New to this site and new to collecting in the last 6-8 months and really enjoying it. I've got a question for those of you much more experienced. I purchased a proof quarter (2022-S Wilma Mankiller) that was sold to me as silver. When I scan the barcode it pulls it up as clad. I compared it to the same year and holder of a clad Maya Angelou. I've included pics of both reeds to compare. The Maya clad in it's holder weighs 33.93 grams and the Wilma in the same holder weighs 34.88 grams....not quite a gram heavier. I know the best would be to have a clad Wilma in the same case to weigh, but I don't have that. Is it possible for PCGS to overlook this as a silver proof and, if so, can you resubmit for a new case or classification? I appreciate everyone's thoughts. Blessings!

The PCGS number 901594 comes up as clad, and the edge seems to show the copper cladding. Looks like you have a clad (non-silver) coin to me. The silver proof has a different PCGS number, and should say "silver" on the label.

The label does not show "Silver" on it, and the coin looks like it's clad. So the coin does match the label.. If it was mis-labeled by the seller as silver then you have a case to return it.

Sorry...those pics uploaded backward. Yes the first one was the known clad. This is the coin in question (Wilma). I am aware the label doesn't say silver and the number says it is clad. That is what I am questioning. It does not appear to be clad and weighs more than a normal quarter. Thank you and sorry for the confusion.

OK, well the edge in question is obviously silver/non clad. So TPG error I think.

So follow up question...has anyone had something like this happen? Does PCGS have a process for correcting these errors?
Thank you

to CCF Man - those are GREAT images of the edge, and through a PCGS holder too. Yes, you can contact PCGS directly and get directions from them on what the procedure is. (it is something I have not gone through [yet])

As others mentioned, while uncommon you do occasionally see errors with PCGS/NGC labels. I've seen slabs labeled with the incorrect date, denomination, or (in the case of a couple commemoratives) the wrong coin altogether. My understanding is if you contact PCGS they will provide a prepaid shipping label for you to send the coin back to have corrected. However, I've not done that myself so I'm not sure if that only applies to the original submitter. Just check with them to see...
