I added the mint mark to your title. Can you get a close up of the anomaly? Looks like maybe a struck through gritty grease or an oil film? John1

Unless that 2x2 is huge, I doubt that it is a 5 ounce version of this coin. Also seeing how it is from Denver, it would also not be a silver coin, but instead a clad business strike quarter. But all that said, it is probably a strike through 'something', but it is difficult to tell with the provided images. I also see reed contact marks below the 'IGWT' (above the MM) and possible Ring of Death ( Coin Wrapping Machine Damage) scrape just above the anomaly described.

Thank you John. I am a newbie, if you can't tell. I've been checking coins for about a year and have a pile but this is the first time I've reached out to ask about a coin. Most stuff I get from you guys and other sites so I've tried to learn on my own. I recently broke my microscope so this is the best I can do with my phone until I get another one.

Dearborn, Thank you. I changed it. And I am not entirely sure what you mean but I will look it up.

Quote: I am not entirely sure what you mean but I will look it up. you can learn about the 'coin wrapping damage' by simply clicking on the blue link. as for the ' Reed Marks' bit - it appears that another quarter's reeded edge made a hard contact with your coin and made those 3 'divots' just under IGWT (In God We Trust)

I'm already ahead of you! lol Thank you! I never knew about those so if anything, this has been a learning lesson. So if the coin is what you all say, is it worth getting it graded? This is where I get confused on what to do with them once I believe I have something 'maybe' worth it? I bought a few books, but there is so many variations, it just confuses me more. So any help is appreciated.

It's a Struck Through error. Although, not worth getting it graded.
Errers and Varietys.

Ya' all have been great and so helpful. Thanks a lot! I'm about to explore my collection of questionable coins and become one of those people who ask 101 questions. :) JK

@backinblack69 Agree, struck through something. Not worth cost of slabbing.
