Can someone let me know what exactly I have here. It's a 1983 penny , seems to weigh less than normal and looks silvery.

I added a couple side by side with a regular penny for comparisons sake.

An accurate weight to two decimal places would be good to know.

Looks shiny and plated instead of the dull zinc color when it's missing the copper plating.

So how exactly did you weigh it? 1983 is a copper plated zinc cent and should weigh 2.5 grams. I see you have a copper cent next to it.

May be dipped in mercury. That was common for kids to do back in the 1960s.

Sorry for slow reply, comes in at 2.5 on the nose. Is this a coin that left mint like this or been messed with? Any value ? Anyone collect them- because I don't really do coins seriously- I collect Case XX passionately. Thank you for replies gentlemen and gentle lady's.
