So I have this 1958 D Wheat penny and the colors on the back are beautiful! What causes it? Pretty sure I have few others as well. Thank you!

Some nice "toning" caused by copper reacting to the environment.

Yes, toning--through exposure to environmental agents.

Dang this place is amazing!! I literally learn something new everyday! I already know I'm a late bloomer when it comes to coins.... I'm 36 be 37 in December. But it's ok... 7 months ago I basically really started my life, at 19 got married to someone 17 years older (I know I know! But he should have known better!) Kid at 20 another at 22 and stuck around for them. They are 16 and 14 and very independent. I still talk with them almost everyday. I was miserable. I'm so happy now tho!! Never told my story, that's like 2% but still LOL thanks for all the help!!

It's worth a few cents at most. Like 18 cents.

Well, that really depends on each individual coin..toning on a coin can be referred to as Brown or maybe Red/Brown in color.
The more valuable or sought after color is Red.
Some collectors like rainbow toning and others avoid toning. So...

This chart is a rather general color chart for red, red brown & brown cents.
If you can obtain a very new Unc. 2023 or 24 one cent in hand and use that as red,
then compare any other coin to that and use the chart to fill in the blanks.
