http://www.cgb.fr/monnaies/vso/v19/...3&nbfic=2014

But the crowns on my coin are in different locations and as far as I can tell the date is on the front not the back any idea's?

It certainly looks French, but unfortunately in the Krause catalogue for the 1700's, most of the coins aren't illustrated.

If you can give us the diameter and show us the other side, that might help narrow down the options.

This coin looks like a French ecu, struck in the name of Louis XV, king of France and Navarra. Mintletter H is the letter for La Rochelle Mint.
If it's an ecu, your coin must weigh around 23.59 gram. It is in Krause as France ecu KM#472.9

I cannot tell from the picture if it's genuine or a cast copy.

Do you need any more pictures to be sure and how much do you think it would be worth?

Ah yes, an ecu. I was assuming from the first pic that it was smaller, something nickel-sized.

Here's an example on CoinArchives of a similar coin.

The pics, especially the ones in the second and third posts, show the coin as having very bubbly and uneven surfaces. This could be corrosion, or it could be a sign of being a cast copy. I'm leaning toward it being a cast copy at the moment, because I rarely see large silver coins corroded that badly... unless it was a shipwreck find.
