I have found an even dozen 2008 LMCs with the triangular die clash on Abe's neck in the last three weeks. Are they so common that they should go back into circulation or should I hold them? Many thanks.
They are probably (I say probably as there is no image)say it is a die clash. that area on the neck is an area level to the field area. During a clash device outlines are transferred on to the field area of the opposing die. Here are a couple of overlays that may help you to see what caused the clash on you coins.
As far as keeping them, I would. I would give them to other new collectors as a conversation piece. I've found other clashes that I've done that with before.
