I'm with you, but for different reasons. I used to look for and keep all the bicentennials I could. This was in the '80s when I was a lad and when I assume silver was occasionally still found in circulation. So now I've got a bunch of quarters worth 25 cents, while if I had known any better, I could have a bunch of silver bullion instead...

good to know, I'm not the only one, with this quarter haunting me, I've gotten 4 this week in change. I'm begening to think that all quarters are suppose to have a drummer on the back ? lol. I think we could start a "Stop the 1776-1976 quarter from circulation" Patent. i'll be the first to sign. lol 1. Tim

Strange this topic has come up; I received two of them in the past few days. People needing the money raiding the old stashes.

Lots of them started showing up in my change in 2008, courtesy of "The Great Recession Coin Jar Dump of 2008-?" Just for fun, I've been putting them in a plastic Quarter roll tube and spending them when it hits $10, and I've now had over $20 of them pass through my hands and back into circulation since just October 2008! There are 13 in the tube right now, 12 are "D"'s

I can't remember when the last time I saw one of those in circulation.

I may have had something to do with the numbers showing up in circulation. Last year I took close to $200 worth (800 coins) to the bank and deposited them into the banks coin machine I took the money and bought a 1/4 oz Krugerrand. I think it was a good exchange.

I bet that this is actually due to the "Great COin Jar Dump of 2008-9." Since the majority of the bicentennial quarter that have vanished from circulation were saved by non-collectors, one can assume that they are now dumping the coins that they had plucked from circulation as curiosities.

Yeah I know, that's probably true... but is it so bad to dream of an uprising?

are we also gonna blame "the great coin jar dump" on the 64 nickel?
i have been tossing most of them back but I was also thinking what XoG was about smelting them

I actually like the bicentennial quarters, but agree with the 1964 nickels. I get so many of those stinking things in rolls.
