US coins without a mint mark were minted in Philadelphia.
During WWII, when, in 1943, '44, & '45, as nickels were made of 40% silver, Philadelphia also added their mint mark (P), discontinued in 1946 ... From 1965-1967,
no mint marks appeared on any circulating
US coins... The "P" mint mark did not appear on circulating
US coins again until 1976 ( US quarter only). In 2017, the "P" mark appeared only on US cents, for that year only.
