Trying to get an ID on this coin, I came from an uncleaned Roman lot but looks Greek to me (I could be wrong). Obverse looks like a shield with something like ΔΘΕ across. The reverse looks like a crisscross pattern of some sort. It is worn on both sides and doesn't come through great on camera so I've added versions that have what I see drawn over. Any ideas?

Could be a tough one, can you please the diameter and weight as that information can help in identification. Also, from your pictures, this piece looks slightly scyphate (but that might be an optical illusion from the design). Can you please confirm whether or not it is somewhat cupped? Thx.

Have you considered other options than Greek? Could the shapes you've interpreted as Greek letters be something else? That reverse pattern shows up in the east in some issues. Here're a couple illustrations from Valentine, from the section on Turkey (specifically, of Murad II's coins), and a pic of an anonymous Mongol issue at acsearch.info. No matches, but perhaps suggestive?

I don't have a good way to weight it but it is around the size of an average 4th century follis so probably around 20mm and yes it is slightly cupped.

It's a definite possibility though its seems bizarre coming from an uncleaned Roman lot. Someone on Discord also found an Ottoman Mangir with a similar reverse design, I just can't find anything from that region with a similar obverse. I'm dying to figure this one out, I've never had one elude me this long.

Good catch Bob--that knot with non-perpendicular interstices on the rev sure seems like a pretty good match with Murad II's AE coinage. Here is a comparison of the OP's obverse with a couple images from acsearch:

You've convinced me, I'm very impressed. Thanks for the help guys, wouldn't have found it without you guys! Now how that ended up in an uncleaned Roman lot is completely beyond me.
