I have 4 coins that I think are Byzantine, but I'm not sure where to start my research. I'd appreciate help.

As far as I can tell, none of them are Byzantine; all four coins have legends in Arabic script on both sides, which is a feature of Islamic rather than Byzantine coinage.

Unfortunately my knowledge of Arabic script only goes about far enough to distinguish it from (most) other scripts, so I have no idea where the coins are actually from. They don't look very early or very late, so maybe 10th-16th century (ish), probably Middle East but maybe India or North Africa.

Size and weight measurements would probably be very helpful for further ID. There are a few CCF members who can read Arabic and they might also be able to help.

Thank you, january1may

The first 2 coins do look a lot like some Indian coins I've seen.

Not Indian, try Mamluk or Umayyad possibly.

Thanks, andyg. I found some pretty close matches with Google Lens.
