Black. It is how I do all mine.

I'm partial to a very dark gray, or midnight blue--once all photo processing is complete.

I have always liked black as it hides shadows. That probably wouldn't matter if you're circle cropping the images.

Backgrounds should offer a contrast to the brightness of the coin. If the coin is dark, such as a brown toned Cent, then a lighter (but never white) background is appropriate. The coin shown is quite bright, so a dark (but not necessarily black) background is appropriate. I agree with @ijn1944 that a dark gray might also look good.

Black seems to draw your eyes to the coins better - the white washes it out.

Black, but I don't think my vote should really count. I have very sensitive eyes and change all my apps and programs to 'night' mode so I'm used to seeing everything like that.
It is not enough to merely enjoy coins; one must Advocate for them!

Well I voted white but having now read the replies I can see advantages in dark colours. I'll now think about it a bit more before posting pictures. My good news is, my replacement phonescope has arrived. Got some catching up to do!

I voted black given the two choices, but I much prefer 14 or is it 18% gray scale background. John1

By the way Mike. The coin is labelled incorrectly. That should be Magic Possum Hush not Vegemite.

Sorry trigg I have to agree/disagree with you, I have 3 2017 all 3 are Magic Possum Hush but when you go to Numista and look them up each one has a name the one posted is Vegemite Hush KM#3399, the next is Happy Hush KM# 3400, and the 3rd is Invisible Hush KM#3401
It does make it easier to label them and keep the pics in order.

Sorry Mike, I was thinking of the vegemite series of coins, I thought you had it mixed up. I wasn't thinking about Hush eating a vegemite sandwich. (Yuk!)
