Hello everyone,

I have this 2009 D penny with a few black spots. Can you tell if these are die chips or just damage?

It also looks like uncle Abe is losing one eye to deterioration.

His face really has an interesting skeletal aspect, which is kind of perfect for this time of year.

I would like to add, very nice shots!
It is not enough to merely enjoy coins; one must Advocate for them!

That's zinc rot setting in. The zinc core got exposed to the elements. Just damage. PMD. It's a spender.

All I can really see is zinc rot, but I'm not an expert on this type.
