Attached are a bunch of photos for this 1972 Eisenhower dollar appearing to link up with Variety Vista Eisenhower 1972 DDO-01; 1-O-II-C photos. There are more pictures but I've tried to narrow down as much as can to show the possible matching occurring. Always thankful for the community opinions and expertise advice.

Rock On!

Looks like a DDO. Minor one.

I don't think it is a DDO at all. A lot of your pics are casting a shadow and not letting me get a good view though.

Thank you. The #1 really appears to have a couple sheriffs going on at the top, but I will re-examine and check the references again (Stage B of VV seemed very close like the B of Liberty and the #1). I also happened to look at NGC variety plus and they seem to have this exact #1 as an example. But, I definitely trust the expert opinions here and the time spent looking at the coins. Thank you all again. Rock on.

Some of the Eisenhower DDO are so subtle that they are hard to attribute. Also, many reference pictures are from circulated coins with considerable wear.

It has been argued elsewhere here that the split serif on the 1 is hub doubling. I agree, as I have a small pile of split serif 1 coins that are definitely struck from different die.

I don't know if the tip of your L is PMD or a split. There does seem to be a small split at the lower left corner of the B, on the tapered tail. I do see something resembling notching on the top left corners of the N in IGWT.

I would personally say that I lean towards a minor DDO, but I think someone knowledgeable could equally argue that there are elements of hub doubling here, or possibly even nothing at all. There are many faint DDO and DDR listed for P/D Eisenhower dollars, but only a very few strong ones.

An interesting find. I am still learning about Ike's minor varieties.
