This is a Flying Eagle cent I acquired not long ago. I have not done any alterations to it and it is in the same state that I received it. As much as I would like for it to be an 1856, odds are it probably is an 1858.. What do y'all think? I have several error coins to upload also! I just started on this coin chat and I'm looking forward to everyone's feedback in the future on the other error coins and this Flying Eagle cent. Thanks!

Looks like a damaged and corroded 1858.

to the CCF. You have found a great forum to help. I see a corroded 1858 - but it would help if you took the coin out of that holder to show us a photo without the plastic glare. Doing so will not damage it any more than it already is. Full images of both sides please.

Yes I will post more pics tonight. Also, it almost appears to have a rotated and raised "8 " above the "8" in "1858".

to the CCF, Coinhawk93! If you crop all of the unnecessary background out, you can post a better picture.

I agree also - 1858. A "7" couldn't get mangled that way!

Looks like a small letters type so 1858 is the only option.
