2023 P Nickel: WDDR-026 With Possible Doubled Die Obverse / DDO

Seeker_101 Pillar of the Community United States 1791 Posts	Posted 11/13/2024 4:11 pm Got this one in pocket change today. Initially, I was looking up a DDO for this nickel but didn't see a match. So then I started looking up DDRs because Monticello didn't look right. Under my initial lighting the doubling on the letters appeared more like MD. In going between the website and my coin, I finally got my lighting right. I don't know how many of these I might have missed due to lighting. In the last photo, I believe the die marker was lost due to a hit so I circled the area. https://www2.briansvarietycoins.com...gs/view/1919 Now on the DDO side, WDDO-001 did match one of the eye lids but this is not that DDO. The last photo has the doubling area at the nose circled - not is no doubling there. So is this a DDO as well? Report this Post to the Staff

Amazingly, I didn't have another 2023 nickel hanging about but did compare it to several other years. There is something with the eyelid on the left eye. I just don't know what. But since the listing for the DDR doesn't give a DDO as a marker, I'll take it that I'm seeing some form of damage there. Report this Post to the Staff

I've found nickels that have had similar anomalies above the letters but they are usually on the reverse for me.
