Seems like these are almost impossible to get graded without a "details" grade...

Why is that? To me this looks pretty decent, but then I don't know exactly what the details should l like.

@coinfrog, this coin isn't particularly well struck - it has some soft spots on the center design and legends; looking at similar coins online - a lot (maybe half?) are 'detailed' - some are 'plugged' and some 'cleaned' and some 'bent'; the other half seems to be low MS. It's an odd mix. I'm not sure why.

Easy to explain if are few of this doge. He did not last long.
Collects in Europe do not care for having their coins in plastic coffins. What is being sent out to put in those are the bad ones that were more available. The best resting in collections, when they go to market only a few dealers in Italy think it a good idea to encase?

@jecs, I agree I'd prefer this coin in hand; and I think it is fairly priced ... ie not too far above gold; what I found surprising is there are two grades on slabbed coins of this type 'AU Details' and 'MS' ...

@IGE, I passed on the coin but don't think it was bent... More of a weak strike causing a flatness
