Well that's a bummer,
but I would still keep it.
Try a soak in acetone.

To CCF! It's stained by environmental damage. Try giving it a soak in pure acetone. It might help.

It's not as sheek as some of my woody pennies or mokume gane billets. Still fun.

Unfortunate its a W. Still keeper in my book, couldn't hurt it by giving it a long acetone bath. I'd be curious what it looks like afterward.

I'm not a coffee drinker and I don't own a vehicle. I'm not sure I understand what you're attempting to relay to me.

I also don't see how acetone would have any affect on physical alignment/overlap/hue of a layered alloy.

People in the coin collecting community are odd. I've never had such difficulty in discussions related to metallurgy. I must be missing some cultural reference or taboo here.

You have a dirty coin that sat in goo. Probably in someone's cupholder where various beverages were spilt on it.

It is not a mint error of any sort. There is no layered alloy just goo and corrosion

It's a corroded and damaged coin. If you like it keep it.

Layers of dried crud. Just for grins, do try a soak in 100% acetone. Just might reduce or eliminate that stuff. I've gone though mountains of coins over several decades of searching. Have come across hundreds which have the appearance yours does. Go ahead, try it. No risk.

I might need you to elaborate. Every coin is affected by its environment. Physics. Nothing can be fully unaffected by environment. Something about the observer effect.

Ah, I'm getting distracted again. We were talking about coffee. I've always preferred tea, personally.

Well, it is largely below the very thin clad. It took a bit of time to get an angle to show the colors. At face, it's mostly mint sheen silver with gun metal grey streaks. I don't think acetone removes either.
