I just saw an ad in Numismatic News for 355 rolls each of the 2009 P & D cents for $6.95 each postpaid. My question is where did he get that many ? He probably didn't get them at the Mint's exorbitant price + shipping. Many of us can't get any rolls from our banks so where did he get all of his ?

Are they mint wrapped rolls or bank wrapped rolls? If they're bank rolls then you can get them cheaper, aka at a bank for 50c.

It all depends on if your local bank has them...

The ad doesn't specify mint or bank wrapped rolls. My bank doesn't have any and many posters have complained that theirs don't have any either.

You have to be cautious about bank rolls, some of them are mixed with previously circulated coinage. Sellers are not necessarily doing this and the seller of a particular roll may not even know, but this is how they are being distributed to some banks.

Gotta be bank wrapped........keep in mind that only "most" banks aren't getting them. There are quite a few who "did" actually. I know one member here on CCF who got 3 boxes of them.........ALL LOG CABIN "P" MINTS !
I have heard too, that the "bank wrapped" Stringer rolls are not "all Log Cabins" contained therein !.......that upon opening the rolls, they discover much to their horror, that they have been "mixed" with older Lincolns.....and this "frequency" should be alarming to those who are buying, selling, or trading in a premium mark-up for these "Stringer" rolls.
If these were the U.S. Mint wrapper ones.......he'd be charging a lot more money........i.e. the two roll sets are going for $80.00 - $100.00 on ebay. Even though this is the same business strike coin. So he would be a very stupid individual indeed, if he's advertising selling these "U.S. Mint Sets" for only $6.95 ! .....

But, my theory in general ..... it seems to me that the difficulty would be..... first.....assuming all Cents in the roll are actually Log Cabin Lincolns....and second.....the difficulty in getting "both" mints. (keep in mind that the "P" mint has the lowest mintage in 50 years)
And waiting for them to just drift your direction from the wild isn't something "I" wanted to do.......so .......I do the two roll sets from the Mint.... ......I know the price......I know the shipping cost......I have "both" mints.....and most importantly I know that what is in there "IS" actually Log Cabin Lincolns !
The ebay Stringer Bank Rolls are just "iffy" to me, and then you have fees and shipping as well.
Getting them from my bank (same rolls) is just not an option for me so.......I happily pay the $8.95 plus $4.00 shipping ! The security of "knowing" what ya got is worth a lot to me !
My Great Grandchild can open the rolls if he/she wants.......but I never will !
Other "collecting" needs that I may have with this Cent can be had with the Uncirculated Satin Finish Set, Proof Set, and Silver Proof Set too.
And I have zero concerns about meeting my "general circulated" needs with this Cent so...(some kind souls on CCF here, saw to it that those needs were met ! for free too !)...
So, Ya'll can go ebay and Stringer Roll crazy if you want to ! ........

Are we still calling this year a "LMC" ? And 2010+ ?
First 50 years......The Wheat cent
Second 50 years.....The Memorial cent
Third 50 years..... ? .
Shouldn't we change the name of this Cent with the new redesign now ?
In 2010 it won't have the "Memorial" on it any more right !

We need a new "classification name" for this new Cent now !
And if they're all "Memorials".......then we have to refer to the Wheat cent as "the LMC" as well......and 2010 onwards.....every Cent since 1909 called "The Lincoln Memorial cent" ?........naw......so....we need a new name now !

We should call it the "Stimulus Cent" since this is the year of the stimulus and the government needs to sell as many of these useless things to raise capital to pay for all of the new government programs that will eventually bankrupt this country.

Riding the pig into debt/inflation/etc etc...

Also, are the markets getting spooked by quantitative easing? Commodities have been going up... but so have other currencies... which could mean that the dollar is losing appeal from foreign investors.

Plus, we'll have so many more new things next year! State park quarters, 5oz state park Ag medallions and the new Pd ultra high relief!
