Sorry if this seems like common sense to some but I'm new to coins. Does this look 1982 p small date look like a double ear? I know there are a handful of years with double ear errors, but I don't really see any posts or info/pics about 1982 having any double ear pennies. I have a more pics but I have to resize the images. I'm not even sure if these are actually double ears or just Machine Doubling? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

It doesn't look like a doubled ear to me. It's kind of hard to tell from that picture but I would say that it might be a plating bubble or a well placed hit.

Just a small hit to the earlobe, damaged coin. If you compare it to an undamaged coin in the same area, you will notice the ear is no bigger. Nice job an calling out the small date though, many have an issue with that.

Looks like a circulation hit, pretty common spot for that. Better quality photos would help here.

Ok I got some images resized to fit. Hopefully this helps... So I had 2 1982 small dates and we're just comparing them which is why it seemed like a double ear. So here's the other 1982 small date Then here's the one I was inquiring about... I was just curious. Since there was any real info or pics of any 1982 pennies w double ears, I assumed it was some worthless type of error. Thanks for the help though! I have difficulty identifying Machine Doubling vs a true double die sometimes so I don't trust my eyes! Lol! Any other info would be great! Thanks everyone

Here is a pic of yours next to a random 82P from PCGS. They are the same size, yours has just got damage of some sort. Hope this helps you see. If it were a doubled die, it would extend beyond the normal size/location.

Thanks for the help everyone! The ear does look like the same size, so you're probably right.
