Possible, but unlikely

The marks on the reverse suggest it is an ex-jewelry coin.

Poor chooce to fake this as its not a expensive coin.
Maybe the edges has been altered to fit it in a pendant or something. Hard to see on pics. I think its genuine but tooled. Possibly dipped

The 1923 S had some die issues that impacted the strike on IN, G in GOD and the 1 in the date. I agree the coin is an ex jewelry piece. If the weight is correct, it most likely is a genuine example.

Chewed up ex-jewelry but almost 100% certainty it is genuine. These are as a common as can be with little reason to counterfeit.

Peace dollars can be problematic to collect due to so many weak strikes.
Nothing about this one appears fake to my eyes. Yes; just a bullion coin.
