I have a few rolls of the new lincoln cents and I bought Plastic Tubes to put them in. To preserve the coins the best, Is it better to put the whole bank wrapped roll in there, or take the Bank Wrapper of and just put the raw coins into the tube? Thanks

It depends on whether you want to conserve the rolls, or the coins. The coins should keep better without the paper from the rolls touching them.

If your main theory is to have "unopened rolls".....then that's self-evident. But if it's just "the coins" that you're interested in preserving.....then the wrapper is completely unnecessary. The "paper" should be safe however.....it should be "acid free" and your tubes should be "PVC" free as well....

Eaglefoot, the concern would be sulfur in the paper, not acid. And I have not seen anything anywhere that would indicate that the paper used by the mint is sulfur-free.
If coin wrappers are indeed sulfur-free now, someone please let me know.

Clear plastic tubes or the opaque/square ones?

They are the square ones. They say these are 'unbreakable'. The rolls that I got at the bank are N.F. String and Son.

What size tube would fit rolls with the wrapper on them? Normal cent tubes, or do you have to buy something bigger?

Quote: What size tube would fit rolls with the wrapper on them? I've received rolls of cents in OBW that were inside a "nickel" tube. It fit pretty well and I figured the seller was trying to preserve the wrapper. The cap from the nickel tube was not on the tube however; the cent roll was too long for it to fit.

All My Penny rolls are in square Coin safe roll holders The penny tube will hold a tightly wound roll but is about 1/8" short but I scotch tape the seam on all my rolls
The Nickel tube is what I got for the 2009 Lincoln they are a little bigger and taller so the cap fits good but I still tape the seam

Yeah, these are the Numis Products INC. Tubes. I bought the cent Tubes and the bank wrapped rolls fit in perfectly, I can put the cap on perfectly, No Gab. I did open one roll and put it in, but I can fit 54 or 55 cions in there instead of only 50. Maybe these tubes were meant for the Bank Wrapped Coins?
