Hello, all!
I'm coming from a background in the conservation, restoration, refinishing and maintenance of architecture, sculpture and artifacts. And I make stuff, including smelting metal from ore to make stuff out of. So I'm familiar with surfaces, manufacturing methods, patinas, preservation, mostly in non-coin contexts.
And, grandmother's coin collection ended up with me. She passed thirty years ago, so 'inherit' seems a little grand. Grandma lived through the depression, so she knew the important coins were the ones in your pocket That is what she collected, for the most part, so you can expect to see some newbie posts illustrated with well-travelled coins, what I guess I should call 'circulated'
