Hello all, I'm a bit of a novice here, but I just wanted a bit of expert advice as to whether my current setup is a good enough one that won't inadvertently damage any coins... I have bought the following supplies from CoinGallery UK: A 'classic album': (No link unfortunately, I think they have run out of stock) Lighthouse self-adhesive coin holders (does anyone know if these are PVC or not, and if the adhesive is safe for coins?): https://www.coingallery.co.uk/50-se...-13941-p.aspCOSMIC Multi Master Pages: https://www.coingallery.co.uk/a4-co...-16663-p.aspAre these coin-safe in anyone's experience? Thank you in advance, and responses would be very helpful! ojokul

I am generally wary of adhesives, but Lighthouse is a trusted brand so I assume what they use in those flips is safe. Beyond that, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Quote: (does anyone know if these are PVC or not, and if the adhesive is safe for coins?) Regarding PVC, here is what Lighthouse says: Quote: Self-adhesive MATRIX coin holders are available in white and black. They are made from strong white or black cardstock and have an archival quality liner, which is free of PVC, acids, or chemical softeners for optimum safety.

I agree, they seem to be ok, but I'm with spruett - I stay away from adhesives. Coin placement is important, if, while placing a coin and you drop it on the glue, well does it get on the coin?

Thanking you all very much for your welcomes and replies, such advice is invaluable to a beginner like me! On a side note, do any of you know any site or spreadsheet which tells you at a glance what were the last years that different countries used silver in circulating coinage? Just because it is quite tedious having to search up large numbers of coins on Numista! Anyway, thanks so much for your help! ojokul

I have bought some silica-gel bags to throw in the mix, idk if this might potentially be harmful but I know moisture is not so good

Quote: I have bought some silica-gel bags to throw in the mix Not a bad idea. Just keep an eye on them, because what goes in and come back out (when they get full). Hopefully they will change colour when they are saturated so you know when to recharge them (usually in the oven).
