Picked up a pair of 1941 Large-S dimes for $10.75 total. This is the first dime. It looks considerably nicer in hand, the axial box really amplifies and dulls that patina around the perimeter. I plan on doing the die identification for these dimes (there are only 6 listed on Variety Vista). Just based on where the leaf touches the S, I would guess die 511.3 or maybe 511.2.
Fact: These were almost common 10 so years ago, where I can find them in junk lots, with the latest Cherry Pickers Guide, they priced the 1941 Large S prices higher than the 1943 Trumpet S, which in fact the 43 Trumpet S is considerably more rarer than the 41 large S, according to David Lange, and I agree, I have only found 1 slab cleaned example in uncirculated grade and one raw in mint state. I think there's a pricing error in CPG or the public just aren't aware of the fact!
