That's what a worn die strike looks like on copper coated zinc cents.

Looked it up on Google and it said this..... is it correct or no? A 2021 D penny with a severe doubled die error ( DDD) could potentially be worth several hundred dollars, depending on the severity of the doubling, the condition of the coin, and the interest from collectors in that specific variety; however, most would likely sell for between $100 and $500 on auction sites like ebay.

Quote: A 2021 D penny with a severe doubled die error Maybe if one is ever found that could be considered severe - Variety Vista does not list any 21-D DDO's and only a few DDR's that are so slight you can't even tell it's a doubled die even under magnification. Here is a 21-D 001 DDR - I can't even see any doubling and I'm looking at the picture.......

Ok so if (especially in the date and mint mark) if that's not considered severe than what is it? If it's not DD but DDD how is that not severe? And just because something hasn't been classifies doesn't mean it's not legit correct? There are new errors being found all the time I thought.... I'm not being rude or anything I would genuinely like to know.

The only thing severe about your coin is that it's severe die wear. Coin collecting also involves reading and studying examples to learn differences between real errors and varieties compared to die wear and the entire minting process. And of course don't ever get discouraged - even experienced coin collectors learn new things almost everyday. I understand that when you are asking questions to learn, people will only say "No not a DDO" or "Just die wear" but they do not give you picture examples so you can tell the difference. I try to include pictures to help people understand but sometimes I forget. Next time someone gives you an answer you don't really understand just ask them if can they show you an example to back up their answer - it may help you learn easier/faster that way.

Sorry I completely forgot to add this picture. What is this error called? Top and bottom of the B and E are partially missing and they all look split down center of each letter.
