maridvnvm Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 2099 Posts	Posted 12/23/2024 11:54 am The Radiate bust with an imperial mantle, holding eagle tipped sceptre is a common type for most mints under Probus but is very scarce for some reason at Lugdunum. I have a collection focussing on the coinage of Probus from Lugdunum and had set the adding of one of these bust types to my collection as a very long term target and class it as one of my "holy grail" coins. I was lucky enough to obtain an example, which has just arrived and is a nice way for me to close out 2024. Probus Antoninianus Obv:- IMP C M AVR PROBVS P F AVG, Radiate bust left in imperial mantle, holding sceptre surmounted by eagle Rev:- TEMPOR FELICI, Felicitas standing right, holding caduceus and cornucopiae Minted in Lugdunum (//I) Emission 5 Officina 1. A combination of positives that is very rare, museum quality They don't come any better than this example. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I have fallen into temptation to give it Sheldon grade.
