These 1962d DDR came on the lot but unattributed and I believe it could be ddr-003 in VarietyVista http://www.varietyvista.com/04b%20J...es%2C%202020

I can't hardly the tell the difference between DDR-003 & DDR-004. They are very similar.

Uruman, I'm not sure your coin is 003 or 004, because 003 has doubling on USA and E PLURIBUS UNUM but nothing on Cent as yours, and 004 has doubling on USA Cent and LO of Monticello, but nothing on PLURIBUS UNUM as yours show, so I believe that your coin is not 003 nor 004, I also check the others 001,002 and 005, but can't match them with yours.

I may be wrong but, could your coin be a new unlisted DDR?

Did you check Brian's Variety coins, to see if there is a match for this coin?

I did a quick scan of the 8 entries for Wexler nickels, and none of them seem particularly compelling. You've got reasonably strong doubling all through the top and bottom. Definitely a neat coin. =)

I'm not sure that I agree with the conclusion about DDR-003. The eliminating factor seems to have been the doubling on CENTS, but there is only one image listed for the NT. That could have been skipped due to coin wear, and such delicate doubling could easily fade as die state ages. I am not sure if the mintmark is a match, because the catalog picture is so zoomed in that you can't really properly compare position and orientation. A match seems within the realm of possibility, at least to me.
