i had the weight checked today at the place I bought it.
it is what I consider 'within spec' because I cannot vouch for
the accuracy of his scale. also my strongest magnet has no effect.
so I guess that ends this thread. thanks again to everyone for your input.

If your strongest magnet is an N-52, and having no effect, that is not good.
You should see a diamagnetic reaction.
I always say SG is among the best checks.
I don't recall reading very many results on this forum when I consider them to be such good bets to begin a check with.
The downside is that such a check would reveal a coin to be not good silver at all so we may never see a post.
The OP would then already know, so no inquiry would be posted.
I'd like to see cases where suspended N-52 magnets and SG tests were done to tell the OP the coin is not good silver and share that experience here with us.
