Not an error, it is Mechanical Doubling,
a worthless type of doubling.

In the future, please do not post photos of scope screens. Use a memory card or USB connection to transfer the image file.

This type of date error on Geo VI dimes is referred to in TRENDS as re-engraved date, for 1938-39-40. There are other years with the same error that are not listed. Can be 1-2-3 or all 4 digits.

Those are classic examples of MD ... machine or Mechanical Doubling. Take a look at some of Wexler's numerous papers on doubling and things just like that are under MD, a type of "worthless" doubling, as he puts it.

Even if they were re-engraved, they would be classed as a variety, not an error.
