BStrauss3 Pillar of the Community United States 4587 Posts	Posted 01/12/2025 9:19 pm Sometime late in 1983 the mint worked with the vendor to make a change and the zinc core has a tiny bit of copper added. It makes the plating adhere better and 1984 and later cents have fewer (certainly more than zero) of these problems.
