I believe this is the re-punch 9 variety. There is also a die crack above the I in Regina. It's a well circulated coin, but should still grade VF in my opinion.

Griffin lists 6-7 last 9 repunches in his paper, but hard to tell if one is yours. Griffin based his papers first on the digit spacing and digit size. If there was obvious repunching, he would mention it, but not always. Yours appears to be the same one that we put on p 346 in the back of the 2011 Charlton on Vicky varieties, but not for sure. I used to love the '99's where you could have both 9's repunched, and sometimes with the 8 as well. You will find the underpunch low (3), left (2), right, high, and/or inside. It appears that they used 2 different size fonts on the repunching or even the first punch, so both 9 digits were struck on a blank 18xx initial die.

Interesting, I am not familiar with Griffin, but I do agree that this re-punch appears to be similar to the one found on page 346 in the back of the 2011 Charlton on Vicky varieties.
Thank you for your help on this.

Jack Griffin was nearly the founder of Canadian large cent variety writings. He died maybe 10-15 years ago and all his rights went to Charlton. He was a great guy and I used to see and talk to him at the T.O. area larger shows. Charlton republished 2 of his works, but they made errors in the republish, mixing Jack's valid descriptions with the wrong photos as Monograph 2. Try to pick up Jack's copy of "Some die varieties of the large cents of British North America and Canada". It's a great reference.

Is it still in print or is it only available on the secondary market?

Secondary market. And DO NOT get the Charlton reprint as the text and descriptions don't match the photos supplied. There are no photos in the original text.
