I found this quarter in my loose change and was just looking for some clarification on the Crack across the middle of it ad also one on the obverse at the bottom and some doubling I think.

on the observes picture the part at the botton that part is lower on the surface then the rest and color is different but all the lettering are there

A guess would be, the quarter was locked in a vise (with polymer jaws) and tried to bend it in half, thus the crack on the obverse.
The reverse area of damage could be from smacking it with a hammer to bend it. I have an imagination.
