They did some amazing work at the Carson City mint! Holds up well even against a modern coin that is, by all measures, perfection.

I like the Carson City Morgan dollar better. It looks much more refined.

Nice comparison photo!

2023 has better mirror, but I agree the 1882 looks sharper in detail.

The reason why the 1882 is sharper in detain on the devices is that
with the modern example, the devices are laser etched to bring out the cameo effect and thus some detail is lost.

It is for this reason that the 1882 coin (for me at least), is the preferred 'no brainer' choice. in terms of presentation, even if the 2023 is an MS-70.

Quite apart from that, historic and numismatic significance favors the CC as well, irrespective of presentation.
