Why Are 2008 Proof Eagles So Expensive?

nohope587 Pillar of the Community United States 5953 Posts	Posted 05/18/2009 5:20 pm I just scanned ebay for the selling price in 2008 Proof Silver eagles and they seem to be selling for anywhere from $70 to $100. I thought I saw a miss print in this weeks Numismatic News when I saw an add for them for $106. I am not complaining as I have several I bought from the mint at time of issue. I'm just curious why they are so expensive on the secondary market. Report this Post to the Staff

I saw on the "much loved" Coin Shoppe" the other night, that they had MS grade slabbed individual Lincolns (LP1's). THEY WERE SELLING FOR $49.95 FOR EACH COIN ! (NOT the Proofs mind you.......the Uncirculated ! ) This is more money than you could have bought the 1 Oz. Silver Abraham Lincoln Silver Dollar straight from the Mint for !
