My understanding is that 17,500 of these coins were authorized but only about 10,000 of these coins have been sold. If so, where's the remaining 7,500? Might they be offered sometime in the future. Are they all done and there won't be anymore? Did I miss a press release? I guess just because a certain number is authorized "they" (whomever that may be) are not required to sell to the maximum. Someone enlighten me.

The original product limit for the gold was 10K, the total mintage limit was 17,500.

The original product limit for the silver was 75K, the total mintage limit was 75K,

The mintage limit includes product limit and also coins/medals used in sets or sold as a set. The sets never happened with the flowing hair, I do not know why. On mint site it says both gold and silver are sold out. The mint production numbers for the gold are almost 10K, almost 50K for the silver. I emailed the mint several times asking why the higher total mintages were not made. They only responded in general terms saying the law allows them to change production numbers.

The silver version had some quality problems. Last I checked about 85% of those graded got MS70. I've seen some on ebay with milk spots, small dings, scratches. I have no clue if this was part of the decision to reduce production from 75K to 50K, or maybe lack of planchets, whatever, the public may never know.

In my opinion the low mintages will help both the silver and gold versions hold their value in the future.

What you missed was that the Mint discovered wallet whales with the auction. They won't dare chance upsetting the winners that paid dearly by selling any more at list price.
