Picked on ebay for about ten bucks. This example seems to be a later die state, where the fragile doubling is beginning to wear. The scratch through UN of United is present, as well as the scratch in the upper left corner of the right window. This nickel seems to correspond better to the example in the Wexler catalog on Brian's Variety Coins. Some of the examples that I have found previously had much sharper definition on the split serifs, and only had the UN scratch.
Thanks, guys. I keep an eye out for that DDR. It's a fun one that can be had in nice condition for $5-10, and a "true" DDR from the standpoint that it resulted from multiple hubbings.
