I have not had the XRF scan yet. I did weigh the coin at 3.3 grams. One of my normal copper 1942 coin came in at 3.1 grams. Ok

there is no telling if the cent showing is the one that was in the slab at this point.

If you look at the photos on the NGC cert page it has the same spots and marks, it is the same coin.

This coin needs to be in a slab to proof its status, removing the coin from its case is futile at this point.

I agree and I am going to send in my coin to see if it can be authenticated as a brass based strike. Putting it in a slab is the only way to treat this coin.

Quite a few overweight cents (3.3 - 3.5 grams) with elevated levels of tin or zinc are known from 1941. A few carry the date 1942. The most prosaic explanation is that these planchets are derived from rolled-thick "brass" cent stock. I have about half a dozen in my collection. My average purchase price was around $50.

That would be the best course of action for you to confirm the authenticity, please let us know the result.

For all of you who dont Believe the NGC VF Details 1942 cent Struck on Brass as I provided many of pics of the coin that its the one graded by NGC I Sold this coin a few years back for 10,500 an bought back from Client just recently at 8500 the coin might be on a slab but is Definitely Genuine I've contacted NGC which was told to send back to re Slab as you know theirs one on ebay for $1,000,000 dollars which I think its a Ridiculous price since there are at least 7 that I know of though thats not many which should command a reasonable price at around the 10,000 to 15,000 range. yea I agree it should be on a Certified Holder but its not at the moment I bought that knowing I know what I sold years ago, and I do have another thats graded

Antonio, why did you crack it out of the slab?
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
