This quarter has extra metal in the "B". I'm not sure what this is called or if its even a error. Is this a common occurrence on coins because I've never seen it before.

Yes, die chip, you can find chips almost anywhere on a coin. No real value unless it is a large one but still collectable for enjoyment.

Is this a UTAH Quarter by any chance? if it is ,you may want to check the reverse as well a lot of time there were additional die chips on reverse of this ATB Quarter, in the O of the Crossroads,some times on 1896 and also top right side of the Locomotive's window. They're fun to find.

So there looks like there may be something in one of the train windows but I will have to get my magnifier out to see it better. I will post photos later when I get a chance.
