Picked this up in a recent auction and can't find any information about it online. At 25.52 g and 36 mm, it's not the size of any Canadian or US coin.
Many thanks in advance for any assistance with identifying it and its function.

That is strange. The washer is stamped as a structural flat washer that meets ASTM F436. Someone must have encased the coin.

Wow - thanks, Blind Squirrel! I looked into buying some similar washers, but they cost more than I paid for this.

You all beat me from my bolt bin for this post, a washer at its best with specific hardness.
Yes they come in stainless steel, cooper and aluminum also. Funny you posted this, I was trying to find a copper washer that fit a dime the other day.

Wow - thanks for pointing that out, thedollarman! I tried to pop it out casually but it was a no-go without a concerted effort. It will stay as-is for now.

Far be it from me to correct thedollarman, as he's well respected, but that obverse was used from 1965-1989, so it may just be 1 coin. Measuring the thickness will tell you if you have 2 in there.

Have to agree with loonielewey on this one.
The Laureate Bust was used up until 1964 when the mint
changed to the Tiara Portrait from 1965-1989.
