Hi all, Just started digging out my coins and paper money after a few years of not looking at them. After looking at an error note that I have, I have a question on how it happened since it's not the normal error I have seen before. It always has looked wrong to me.

So here goes
I have a $5 error third printing shift. The strange thing is the green printing is correct but the black printing is shifted. Aren't both the colors done at the same time? If I'm not mistaken all the ones that I have seen both the green and black are shifted the same. Am I wrong on this?

The Picture is kind of large so here is the link to it

Welcome to our CC family!

I was actually at a dealer friend's shop last week and he showed me a similar error to what you are describing. If you are looking at the error side, it appears that it would have been a cutting error. I'm not sure how this error can occur. PCGS is now grading currency. You may want to contact them to see if they will attribute errors on the notes also. While I am not a currency expert by any stretch of the imagination, I would think that this would be a pretty rare error. I'm sure that someone else who is better versed in currency will be along to help you identify the cause.

Could you post a pic? This error is very interesting and I'm sure our members would like to see it.

I think every printer works withthe samee principle that each colour is printed separately.
and the big ink printers that they use for magazines, banknotes etc have separate pattern, die -whatever it's called- for each colour.

ps: as far as I can tell, maybe only the green serial numbers are shifted? since they need to be different on every note, the paper may be shifted befor it entered that section?
