Found this in circulation, series 1981A $1 Federal Reserve Note. It is missing the Federal Bank Seal and the numbers designating which city issued the note. Does anybody know how this occurs? And is it worth saving?

welcome to a Great forum. and If you can post a picture that would be Great.Yes it is worth saving..+++ when it goes through a roller printer press it is supose to print them seperate from some other details, at least on older notes and it didnt. I have a couple of books on american currency and it they show a Two dollar bill for the note, with the same error you mentioned Naturally the better the condition the more it usually is worth. regardless in this case what ever the case (in what condition) keep hold of it .. you will not be able to retire on this one but might be a nice little premium only an estimate according to the figures in my book for the two dollar bill as an example Veryfine=$170.00 and Extrafine = $220.00 and NEW or Crisp uncirculated is $450.00 keep in mind that they are estimates and the collector base for such errors is limited so price is based on what a person is willing to pay for such product. hope this helps and if you can scan or take a picture of it would help also keep in mind if sold to a dealer they will give you much less..

actually you need to edit that and take your email off(thats according to the rules and for your protection)Ju8st see if you can answer a couple questions does it have folds and how many does it have bent corners tears smeras stains crinkled etc or unless you know how to grade it then that would work too. lookat a crisp new bill and use a comparison scale poor good very good fine excellent and new this might help some but still would only be an educated guess

Hi zulu

what problems did you encounter trying to post your pics ?

File size needs to be below 100kb this is probly the most frequent problem ,,

If you continue to have problems let us know and one of the mods or admin will help in getting a pic posted.

Thanks
Rick
