I have had this half for a while now. It came from one of those Kennedy / Lincoln fact type display sets. I always thought the color was toning from the paper. I finally got a scale and weighed the coin. It's 9.4g. That sounds low. Maybe it is missing the top layer. The other coins in the pictures are just for color reference. Photos are alittle lacking in quality.

I forgot to mention, there is only a fine silver line on reverse when looking at the edge of the coin. The copper seams to go completely to the front. I have had alot of trouble trying to get a good picture of this.

Oooo, very nice
You are missing ~2 grams so yes, you would have a split clad planchet error. I am not exactly sure what it is worth but I would say $25-50 so definitely a keeper I paid about $15 for a split clad reverse dime a few months ago and I thought I got a good deal on it.

Nice! I'm glad I held onto this. Thanks for the info biokemist6.

Just as a side note, other Kennedy half is a 1970 S that I found in another one of those sets. I bought them for face value. I just "cracked" them a couple weeks ago when I saw the 1970 was a S mint. I never thought to open them till I read some of the posts here about cracking sets and such. That's when I noticed both coins were not run of the mill.

I should have gotten a lottry ticket that day.
