I have this 1943 steel penny that is allegedly uncirculated. I don't know much about these pennies but I have heard of people resurfacing them. Are there any dead giveaways that would tell us if this one is or is not resurfaced? I am also wondering where you guys think it would grade if I sent it in.

It's hard to capture on camera but on either side of the "ONE" there are some sort of squarish looking inconsistencies, possibly from the minting process?

Hard to tell from the photos. Does the edge have the same shine as the obverse and reverse? I don't think it's a reprocessed 43 steel.

@jfeed Here is a picture of the edge. After doing some more research I do believe this coin has NOT been reprocessed. It has a consistent luster. Now the question is how does it grade? High MS go for quite a bit from what I see on PCGS.

Your cent does not have the "cartoonish" shine that replated cents have. The edge does look like steel and the mint finish looks correct also. I say a genuine uncirculated steel cent. Maybe MS65 - not worth sending it in for grading though.

Yeap...Nice cent, but I agree with Marve65. Not worth the cost of grading, however it does deserve a nice new 2X2 flip

Thank you for using a WHITE background, easy to judge the color and white balance. 100% authentic, I can see diffuse cartwheel spokes in the pictures. You can see some steel along the rims in spots. MS-63 (I see milk spots, stains and various field distractions) It would grade but the costs would FAR outweigh the final value. It's normally cheaper to buy a slabbed example: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nk...H_Complete=1

The surfaces look original. As far the grade, maybe MS-64. Not worth slabbing though.

the lighting and focus are a little off but the coin looks reprocessed. in any case lets assume it is not. the coin probably fall into the MS63 maybe 64. the coin would have to be in the 67 range to even consider grading it. just watch where you store it as they are very susceptible to rust. an airtite hold would be best.
