1983-S 1c Proof Fat Lettering On Reverse?

SteveGraves New Member United States 29 Posts	Posted 03/08/2025 9:51 pm I was looking at this penny and the lettering on E PLURIBUS UNUM looks like it is fat to me. Is this a double-die error? The rest of the lettering looks normal to me. I cannot find anything online about it. There is also something weird going on with the S mint mark. Any input would be appreciated! I'm seeing what may be very slight thickness on your coin. The dots at EPU are almost perfectly round. There does appear to be a little "oval-ness" going on but I see no notching on any of the letters. The full images seem to look normal. Comparing your closeups to the images in the link, I can't really tell if all 1983 S proof coins had the round parts of the letters (P, R, & B) almost filled in or if it is part of some extra thickness.
