to the CCF, tricky rick!
Lincoln cents have been composed of copper-plated zinc since 1982 - not clad. The "warts" are plating blisters resulting from corrosion of the zinc under the plating.

Plating bubbles which are common on any year zincoin.
If they get large enough and break, the zinc will start to rot away.
