I found a 1992 d quarter with a knot on the front side. The knot is just under the nose and the chin is included in the knot. The back of the quarter is normal. Is this quarter a collectors piece or of any value over $.25?

Took awhile but here is the pics. Hope this helps.

The reverse and sides look normal. There is some wear on the sides.

Knot? As in like a boil? Could be a Cud... but pics would really help.

Is your picture less than 100K in size? If so, the green "Add Image" icon at the bottom of the reply works great. Crop and then resize the picture down to 100K and give it a shot.

Oh, and to the forum.

Sounds like some small die chips. no added value . just a note: that Cuds are always located at the rim . think rim to rim die break ,the broken part missing from the die face gets filled in during the strike, thus leaving behind a raised portion ( Cud).

It was probably caused by a sudden application of intense heat as with an acetylene torch. These separate between the layers usually if heat is applied.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.
