What's wrong with cents after 1982? And yes, I had contemplated doing this. The most difficult coin and most expensive to find in the Lincoln Memorial cent series is the 1970-S Small date. Pretty impossible to find in the wild.

Yeah, I definitely won't be going for that. I'm sure it comes with a high premium.

I filled two albums from bank rolls with 1959-1982. All mints.
Fantastic!

I don't do varieties so I skipped the 1922 (no d).

My Whitman album (given to me over 30 years ago when it was already old) doesn't even have a spot for this.

Lucky!

My Dansco album has that hole and it taunts me. It and the 1909-S VDB are the only vacancies.

I keep seeing this term "Zincolns." I would assume it is some kind of slang?

I mean, personally, I haven't really had too much trouble honestly finding some nice post-1982 coins in circulation.
Also, it's weird, I feel like I see a tons of cents from the late 60's that are always in really good shape and have a particular look to them. 1968 in particular.

Yup. Zinc Lincolns.

Starting in 1982, they transitioned from 95% copper to copper plated zinc. Since 1983, they are all copper plated zinc, except for the NCLT versions in 2009: uncirculated mint set, proof mint set, and Lincoln Coin & Chronicles set.

But why are they frowned upon because of this?

Poorly made. They tend to disintegrate over time in circulation. You have to get them fresh and take care of them.
