Pmint1 Valued Member United States 465 Posts	Posted 03/29/2025 10:35 am The last 10 to 12 years I have been buying coins in a particular series on a weekly basis. I was buying any coin that appealed to me whether I had the date/mint already or not. The last I had to purchase to complete the set was expensive (to me) but I finally acquired it. I was then surprised that my zeal left me very quickly. Has anyone else done this? After 6 months or so I am starting to buy a few here and there again. It just felt strange to be so passionate about something for so long and have it dry up so fast. I'm going to begin upgrading where I can now but honestly the prices in this series has really gone up since I started. Its hard to pay $500 for a coin that was available 10 years ago for $300. I finally bought the 3 farthings piece at the CICF 35 years later. Almost immediately I had a sense of now what? It took a while, but the joy came back. Report this Post to the Staff

It does not take long, but I eventually get excited about the next goal. You just get interested in other stuff, if the hobby sticks beyond the initial obsessive pursuit of filling album holes. Also, as my own interests have matured, I'm more engaged by the info as I am the trinket that is 'the coin' itself.
