Hi I have recently come across a good looking 1859 Canadian one Cent Piece that I was hoping someone could help and tell me how much it might be worth and where I might sell it. There are a bunch of pictures of the coin in this album . Any Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hi And welcome! I did see some of the photos of this coin. To get a good grade assessment there would need to be a good image of the portrait side of the coin as well. I may have missed it? Secondly, try to not hold the coin with your bare hands or at least hold it carefully around the edges as fingerprints can ruin the coin and the value. There are varieties of that particular date. TO me it seems that its is the wide 9 over 8.
I am sure that others will be along to give better information and maybe help with which variety you have.
Hmm...I also see something in the 9 of the date. Take a look at this:
To my eyes, it looks like Type 1 or "Wide 9 over the 8". I can't grade from the date, but here's what Charest's catalogue gives for values (in CDN$) F12: $45, F15: $52, VF20: $64, VF30 $74, EF40 $115
